Our group hunt's seperatly, but as bud's, in two different management zones, St Thomas and Ingersoll area. Just wonder what everyone else is seeing?
Deer population seem's to be high, three eight's and a ten so far, ground and tree stand hunting.
Turkey's are un-real, yote.s seem to be down, raccoons extreme. Just wondered what other's are seeing?

I bowhunt 92c from a tree stand and haven't seen anything shoot able yet besides a yearling buck last Saturday that was keeping his distance from me...work has really been getting in the way though so haven't been out as much as I would like lol. Trail cam pics show a nice 8pt hanging around, lots of does and a few other pics of a field full of about 30 turkeys!! I've seen a ton of turkeys this year...only seen one yote so far which is a good sign that the boys extermination seems to be working. Next few weeks should be full rut I would think with the amount of scrapes and rubs I'm seeing!

Good luck to all and be safe!

I have seen way less deer this year. Jacks are back cotton tails are up coyotes seem to be the same Lots of turkeys just less deer here in 90 b

Bow hunter only down in 89 were i hunt there is only one set of buck tracks not seeing anything deer down in my area

Well I waffled on a 6 pter this aft and a 4 pter yesterday... rushed the shot and rookie mistakes lol. only two deer I've seen personally, we only have 1 smaller 8 pter down. Couple does missed by others in group. Had some issues with other hunter on our property this aft so that hunt was cancelled so I went home and put the snows on the car, cleaned the TB and greased the steering components lol.

20 Hen turky in the field this morning that was a nice sight, within 10 ft of my stand, how come that never happens in the spring...

Mostly stand hunting so far as our group has dwindled to 4 during the week but should be full 8 or 9 by the weekend.

3 more days and 9 seals to go...

WXT, lot of hunter's out during the next couple of day's, should keep deer moving?? Sorry to here of trespasser's in your hood, many " way to heated" battles this way over the yrs with trespasser's.
We've had a great hunt this yr, hate to brag but what the hell, filled 7 tag's for 7 in 2014, filled 1 tag last yr for 7 guy's, and then tagged out this yr today. Guess it's the hunter's way of doing the casino?
Our spot's, the rut is in full swing with buck's tending does, and chasing away inferior's, great entertainment?
We hunt swampy area's with long established stand's and blind's between the pond's, cut off points?
This yr for the first time in 20yrs the swamp is bone dry, buck's are travelling where the pond's where, not the higher ground? Also we have always got our deer mostly at first and last light, majority have been shot this yr between 9 and noon?
best of luck

Slow start for our group of four 60 year olds, but today we tagged our third 8 pointer. Only 1 doe and 2 fawns have been seen all week. Which may be part of the reason
that they started with no additional tags 2 years ago. We decided this year to only harvest bucks of any age and leave the does to do their job so we can hunt the future.

We got 5 today. 2 big mamas and a couple tasty tender young.

The poaching issue involve natives whole the MNR let go like nothing ever happens.

Win Tom, think I'm being baited here, but what the hell? Clear threw past post, we differ in hunting ethic's? Our turf, deer pop seem's to be real good, group here only hunt buck's, have for yr's. Ever consider those two big does could have throw twin's next yr, or the couple of fawn's could the year later?
Hope you enjoy your harvest?
As for your bitch on the native Canadians, you may want to check treaty right's, you'll see why CO's do what they do?

CO's need to enforce Canadian Trespassing laws. Is it okay for someone to walk into your kitchen and start eating your food at your dinner table just because of the color of their skin?

I see no difference between that and a native trespassing on our land without permission during our only 1 week a year to hunt when they get 365 days to the poach the deer on our turf. (maybe if they didn't shoot everything that moves on their reserves they'd have plenty on their own land.)

Treaty does not give them the right to trespass and our government needs to start enforcing that! These cops and CO's need to stop their politically correct bullshit and uphold the god damn law.

And to your ethics we have been over this a dozen times on this forum. Hunting is hunting however your holier then thou self see's it. If that is your views then keep them as your views, as for us we put meat in the freezer not worried about antlers on the wall. That is an added bonus. My validation tag says antlered or antlerless so we shoot either or. We aren't a QDMA blah blah blah can only shoot mature bucks group. That is nice and fine to be selective all you want during bow season as it's almost 3 months long. One week gun hunt to put food on the table for the next 6 months.

Oh and by the way, I have been hunting with these guys for 4 years and every year we continue to see plenty of bucks and does and fawns.

We ended up with 7 at the butcher. Can't wait for the table fare.

Tom you're right with regards to trespass. I was bow hunting one of my properties a few years back and was confronted with 3 native guys hunting coons. One of them muttered something about their traditional lands and right to hunt. I told them to get the F### off my property, then called the OPP. Because they had a firearm the police were right on it. Forget the MNR...they are USELESS. Call 911, tell them there are firearms and you're threatened. Police I've dealt with could care less about aboriginal claims at that point.

As far as bucks vs does, if you have an antlerless tag then take one. All the research shows its better to harvest does to keep the herd healthy. Shoot all bucks without consideration of the dominant animals and you end up with lesser bucks doing the breeding and the quality of the herd goes down. Pretty soon you wont have any bucks. Deer #s have more to do with winter/spring predation, habitat, etc than anything else although there are areas I know that have been so hammered over the years with big gangs and 3 hunts that the deer #s are way down....you can only take 12-15 deer X 3 hunts out of a small area for so long. Some of the larger groups might want to start looking at their harvest goals at the beginning of the week vs # of tags in their pockets.

You are absolutely correct, we are all allowed to hunt in the methods we choose and are legally allowed. Just saying, maybe if you let the does pass and reproduce, you wouldn't have to down fawn's just to fill tag's? Curious though, you mention the Native Canadian's shoot everything that moves, kinda reads that's your style too?
Enjoy your tasty tender fawn burger's, all 6 of them, if you don't make them to thick?

We did call the police and 3 showed up. Would not press trespassing charges, they claimed they thought they were somewhere else. Guess in 2016 Indians still don't know what maps or gps is.

Oh and the cop told us himself that he had to shoot 7 deer this past couple weeks...

The 7 deer we took will have very little change to the population. You do know that bucks range over 5 sq km and does over 2 sq km. They are always moving to different locations there are plenty to spare.

DaveJ, my response was directed towards WinSX3Tom, I should have titled it accordingly
Thats OK. We all have our ideas on how we like to hunt. I will shoot a doe over an immature buck, but my land is thick with does. I don't shoot fawns...now that there is just one tag, I want the biggest deer I can find!!!

dave at mapleton took in and collected over 600 hundred deer hides last week .. and countin....the controled hunts are setup to manage and control the deer numbers...that means harvest antlerless and or antlered deer...so there you have it...you can take whatever you desire ...meaning a deer is a deer...so shoot what ya want or what you can get...I think most hunters given the chance would be happy to take a nice buck...but that does not happen season after season....I passed on this season for a muzzleloader deer....I took a nice 10 pointer 5 X 5 typical last season
good shootin boys...

Hey Can't miss ...I would appreciate a photo or 2 of your bucks on the meat pole last week...can you do that?...what was your biggest typical approx?...its not hard to measure a 4 by 4...with one of those flexible sewing measuring tapes you can buy at the dollar store...then you can check boone & crockett and pope & young and even MCI for measuring whitetail deer antlers.... then you take a couple measurments and then get somebody totally different and let them measure them and post the numbers....I know we have and shoot 140 bucks every season here in the south.......and there has been some real big boys with heavy mass and long tines taken over the years....Randy Mcbrayne shot one of the biggest 2 seasons ago in area 92B...that area continues to put out some of the biggest bucks on a consistent basis...you can google many trophy bucks taken in 92B in the past....the thames river and area has great numbers of deer...I know a couple groups that hunt the bucks of 92B...

and 92C is also a good one...the guy down the street hunts in a group of 11 and they shot there 11 for 11 and all mature bucks pushin woodlots last season first hunt...I also took my 10 pointer last season in 92c...location is everything...

oh ya here is my message and warning to the poachers that tresspass on private property to grow marijuana and take deer and turkey without permission....sooner or later you will get caught....I hunt a number of areas with landowner permission...I have been directed by the landowners to do everything possible to catch the people that are breaking the laws tresspassing on there property....its been an ongoin issue where I hunt here in 92D...I give this area a 2 year break and will be back on it next season as the crop rotates to soybeans from corn of this season...I know right where and how to set-up cameras to help catch the crooks...
