Here is a little more bureaucracy for those fishing the US side of the "D". Looks like you are supposed to report to the Customs Telephone Reporting Centre when returning to Canadian waters (my interpretation) after having entered US water. You only need do this once if weaving back and forth between countries. See http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/pb-pp-eng.html . I doubt anyone ever does this, but if you somehow get caught, it's a $1000 fine.
Just checking the forecast, chance of rain, not too concerned about that, cause I won't melt, but they are talking about 20km winds from the south gusting to 30kms..... Never fishing there before, is that problematic? Other than making it feel colder lol? I really don't know if the river gets , Lake Erie rough, or just choppy. Thanks. I should say, again, to be clear, 20' legend deep v.
umm...you just made that comment on a Detroit River thread...I was told this is a Long Point only forum once.
@G.Mech , any body of water you don't fish? Maybe I'll see you chasing Browns on Ontario soon. The boat is loaded and pointing towards Pt. Dalhousie. This week should be a go if the mud line isn't too far offshore. I better not say anything more about Lake O, I was told this is a Long Point only forum once.
In my experience, boat and freighter traffic are the biggest contributers to most of the rough water on the river. The river can get surprisingly rough at times but from my experience its caused mainly by strong South & S-W winds. 20-30km is fishable but boat control gets a bit more difficult. If the South breezes are a problem you can fish up around the river bend by the Casino and Walkers distillery and you kind of protected.
