Fishing Report Port Franks Live - May 28, 22

Wondered if that poo was all that "manure "spread on the fields running out the rivers into Huron.
My last run up there was a shitty smelling ride. All farmers manure tossers running.

A fellow charter captain reached out to their University of Michigan contact who has done water sampling here in the past. This was their response.

Interesting that you should ask. I was just looking at the satellite imagery and notice some pretty high (for Lake Huron) algae blooms recently. Here is an image from May 19. The orange areas seem to be around 3.3 micrograms per liter. Given the location, I would think the bloom is being fed by phosphorus loads from Ausable watershed.

As for the almost skunk, you needed to hang in there for a bit longer, The major bite that day happened after 2pm, and it was actually very good fishing... I would say above average, but definitely was an afternoon bite kind of day. You were fishing the right depth. Here is what I was marking on Friday Morning.

important, serious, or significant.
"the use of drugs is a major problem" ...............lol

or in other words, limits were caught.
@rastam4n, limits would definitely fall into the "major" category... even one Conservation Licence limit would qualify.

Maybe we should have been using drugs...

@stomp the salmon are finicky, recently the best bite has been in the afternoon. Not sure why, and it can change anytime. They are not as predictable as Walleye. More like Rainbows.

The last three days have been interesting... Most boats on Friday, Saturday and even Today were skunked or just one fish. However, we have done pretty well, Friday we boxed 2 kings 9/12lbs and 5 coho, Saturday we boxed 2 coho but lost many others including what I would guess to be a 10lb king... and today we boxed 2 coho and 3 walleye with many more hit and runs... Huron is waking up! ....last photo is Thursdays 14lb king...I was scouting for the weekend
