Was catfishing today in a Lake Erie trib in a spot where a few days ago I couldn't keep the cats off my line. Today I only caught one but there were carp jumping all over the place, I mean 20lb plus carp! So what are they eating that they are jumping for or are they doing something else? The next time I go I'm tempted to take some corn or make some carp bait to try for some of these monsters. TC

The jumping isn't feeding related. They will sometimes sip insects or other edibles off the surface but not jump for them. Corn is a good bet but the bite can be slow when the spawn is on....

Carp use to spawn up my back yard as a kid. corn was the best hands down. Lake St Clair trib.
