I have Scotty releases and they hold braid quite well. Could be the type of release you are using.
To answer your question. I have seen people capture the braid with an elastic then hold the elastic in the release (double the elastic around the line then back through itself). This works very well on planet board releases also.
There has been talk about the Chamberlain releases. I may try a set of those.
Not cheap but the most consistent release you can buy, you adjust release tension with a set screw at the end, wrap the line around the "bat" four times then push it down.
