Fishing Report Bruce - Sept 8

With the possible heavy winds for the next week, I had invited @Red Hering out with me. We waited for the morning winds to die down and were on the lake around 10ish. I have to admit the fish are definitely scattered now (at least in Bruce) and we had to work to get our 2man limit. Spoons did not produce today, all fish came off body baits. Red was using blue/silver rrf on lead and I was using neon green yalleye lure on dipsy. Red outfished me today, but I landed the big fish for the day, not sure what's going on with that poor fish, but I think he needs to see his proctologist ?

Very nice we were out and found it very slow. Only 5 fish all on body baits 50 to 57 ft of water. Started in 45 and went out
Thanks & congratulations to you as well @gibby123 ? @Extra Virgin, and I,were wondering on how the other boat’s were doing that day @gibby123 and thanks for your report on your day out,and because it is such a big lake,we need to communicate more especially this time of year when the weather changes daily, especially the strong winds that we are usually having, which can cause the fish to scatter, and the searching for walleye’s begins,(again!!). I am hoping to be getting out fishing a few more times, but this week so far isn’t looking too good, after I was just checking out this morning few websites on the marine weather conditions that I follow for lake erie, huron and even long point bay for some pike/bass action.Perhaps the lake’s will improve by the weekend.A couple of more photo’s from our great day on Lake Erie from last sunday. Tight lines to all & be safe!! ?????

If you ate lots of those zebra mussels I would suggest you could suffer from anal blowout as well.??

Agreed, we only caught 2 around the 53-56' where I was catching them quickly all summer at a few waypoints I have, and all the rest were out in 62-65' and beyond.

Haven't been skunked this year, yet! It didn't take us long to figure out that the eyes are out deeper, we would find a "hot spot" that caught a few so we' would circle back to that waypoint only to find no fish. Kept doing that every time we land a few. Didn't matter how long we were out there. Good weather, great conversation, hooking fish throughout the day, that huge ? woke us up, idled some stabil treatment through the Mercury's veins (I always start putting in treatment after labor day.... Never know when it's the last time out), and got off the lake with a limit before dark (y)

Too bad you had to work to get your limit. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work. Do you remember ever getting skunked?
@Ken Rotchill yes,too bad that we had to work for them,:(lol:ROFLMAO:;),(my kinda work-fishing :love:especially in my retirement year’s-lol), @Extra Virgin and I were very happy with our results, and it was our first time fishing together, and @Extra Virgin knows the lake and is a great angler and eventually we put the pieces together that day,to make it a successful day for the both of us to catch our limit. Also,we were only using one fishing rod each,to avoid tangles,(I had a major tangle  on my 9 colour lead core rod that @Extra Virgin knew how to fix, which he learned from @tailfeathers on one of his charters?:)) while we were zig-zagging & also doing a lot of s-turns as well to try to stay on top of the fish that were scattered.I personally haven’t been skunked yet this year on lake erie 7E7FC1B8-A593-4EDD-ADB3-5D64C9642189.jpeg CE703CE1-4D39-4001-96A1-A417968AC6A5.jpeg;) and there are lots of fishing trip’s left for me out of my boat, but not necessarily just on lake erie, but hopefully on lake huron as well for some rivermouth salmon & rainbows. But if by chance I do get skunked,it would be no big deal, because it is always great just to be fishing!!??? Tight lines & fish on!!??

I don’t make up the rules. Why wouldn’t you run 2 lines each?If you want to burn gas for an extra 5-6 hours do whatever you want.

If we had minnows we would had been on the perch in Hastings I was just trying to empty the tank. Only 3 boats out there.

Well it sounds like the division lines are drawn, might have to make a run in the pike tourney- show the nerds another lesson. Lol

We were in no hurry to limit out, therefore we used one line each and to enjoy the day out on the water. @Extra Virgin already told me that he wasn’t able to fish the pike classic,(not that he was going to be my partner anyways),for he has other plans that day.Good luck if you do fish the pike classic for it is a lot of fun & tight lines & fish on to the rest of your season. ? ????

Come on down for the derby @Dmanwithnoname ! I'm hoping to get an invite aboard @Three Bouys ' boat. We need a calm day so @Red Hering can wet two lines.
