Off Topic West End Rescue

I remember a year that happened on the Inner Bay. Ice broke off the north shore and was drifting towards Thoroughfare Point. Our channel was ice free so we threw a boat in the water but the ice clogged the mouth of the channel and we couldn't get out to the open water. We watched the OPP helicopter grabbing guys off the ice but they had to leave all their equipment out there. Heard later that's a standing rule due to the weight factor.
