Decided to beat the rain today and went to the river in the morning....not a bad day...very warm almost no wind....very clear water....not many other fishermen first thing, but that soon changed...had to go find where fish is hiding as they were passing in small groups and not staying long....ended up 2/6 not great landing ratio but all the lost ones were big heavy fish and kept braking my Izumi 8# fluoro leader....may upgrade to 10# Seagur....

Few shots from today...some stocked and some natural fish as well...

Look at the first picture and the missing pelvic fin on the right side...

I still do not understand why our hatchery's still clip the pelvic fins. Ask Darryl Choronzey what he thinks of this!!

He referred to it as taking your kids arm off - then sending them to school!
The U.S takes off the adipose fin with their Salmon and Rainbows - It's a proven study that works without harming the fish. I really don't understand why our Canadian hatchery's don't follow also.

Just my two cents!
Butsy.

Fully agree with you Butsy. I have seen/caught a lot of fish with clipped pelvic fin...even whities or lakers on Simcoe ...go figure...

Hi Emil,
I didn't realize you were also a river rat. Real nice looking fish. 2/6 isn't bad. It's been a while but if my memmory serves be correctly the heavier the line or leader the fewer the opportunities.
