Some people are always able to think differently than most. This should do the job for awhile until the screws rust out.
Should qualify for a Darwin award.
Maybe the instruction sheet was upside down.

Might be hard on jaw when the screws do break. Just turn the whole deck upside down and you should good. 😉 😁
 
Hahaha , the sad part is it was probably a professional, I seen home owners actually do a decent job and in the last 30 years I seen all kind from floor tiles installed face down and drywall with back side facing

Looks like you installed upside down,, if the first one is right.
 
Looks like fire wood,Hope nobody falls through.I have some over weight friends that would not even try using upside down stairs.Have seen them break pretty nice aluminum ladders.Update your insurance.
