Merry Troutmaseve tomorrow is opening day. Today is the long day before a day of anticipation and preparation. We check our rods and waders we untangle nets and dig up the back yard looking for bait.
Today is also a day of reflection we remember seasons past the fish we caught the fish we lost and the stories that go along with them
Today is also a day of lament we mourn the loss of our favorite spots due to change in ownership change in regulations or change in health some times we can't scale the banks we used to scale.
We also reflect on change some of us remember camping with friends waking up to fresh snow or pouring rain and having the rivers and valleys to ourselves now we have to share with hipster turkey hunters and yuppie mushroom enthusiast. So called vegan hunters.
Most of all today is a day of celebration we made it through another winter the garlic is sprouting in the garden the rhubarb is developing leaves the trees are budding and tonight we will fall asleep to the lullaby of a thousand spring peepers and dream of catching the great wild Brooke brown are rainbow tomorrow.
Good luck God bless Merry Troutmaseve
