I have used Magnum Tadpoles for the past 4 years on Erie. They are by far my preferred inline diver over Pink Lady's, Jet Divers, Torpedos and Dipseys. That said I also have one downrigger and use leadcore as well. My preferred way to use them is straight out the back(side) with no planer....especially for worm harnesses etc because you can see a light bite easily and they have little drag when a fish is on and always "trip". I had one running this morning out of Port Stanley and it caught half our catch.
