Less than 3 weeks before the season opens. Does anyone know what the protocol will be for the LPWA?
Rondeau Bay Provincial Park Waterfowl Office Protocol
Scope: To be used for daily operation of the waterfowl office, with or without direct interactions with the
public (hunters), volunteers and employees. This document is a subsidiary of the OFAH Return to the
Workplace Plan and is to be used in conjunction with it and all OFAH Health and Safety policies and
protocols (especially the Field Work Safety Policy). Additional guidance on COVID-19 prevention is
contained in the OFAH Return to the Workplace Plan.
Day Start: Prior to entering the waterfowl office, each day the Waterfowl Unit Technicians (WUT) will
do a self-screening per the OFAH Return to the Workplace Plan (Health Screening – On-Site Screening
Protocol).
PPE: Mask (disposable or cloth), hand sanitizer and disinfectant.
Waterfowl Office Set Up:
• No hunters/volunteers are allowed to enter the waterfowl office, other than the WUT. A sign, stating
this, will be posted.
• The WUT are required to wear a mask (disposable or cloth) at all times when interacting with
hunters/volunteers (indoors and outdoors). The WUT are also required to eliminate physical contact
with the hunters/volunteers, such as handshakes. WUT will be encouraged to download and use the
Canadian government “COVID Alert” app.
• Signs promoting physical distancing and the use of the Canadian government “COVID Alert” app.
will be visible to hunters/volunteers at the front of the waterfowl office.
• Hunters/volunteers are required to remain outside the waterfowl office, in the parking lot and
practice physical distancing instructions from Public Health Ontario, remaining two meters or six
feet apart.
• The existing window in the door on the north side of the waterfowl office will be re-constructed to
create a sliding window. The new registration window will be used only for funds, licenses and
registration cards to be transferred between the hunter and WUT. The WUT will need to disinfect
any shared materials (e.g. pen, clipboard, etc.) afterwards and sanitize their own hands. Hand
sanitizer will be located at the registration window for hunter use.
• A map displaying the blind locations will be visible on the outside of the waterfowl office. Each
blind location will have its own light which can be turned on or off as required.
• A computer monitor will be visible in the registration window to display the chosen hunters in the
morning draw.
Registration:
• Upon arrival at the waterfowl office, a maximum of three hunters from the same house hold or
social circle may approach the registration window for registration purposes.
• Registration cards must be filled out away from the registration window and waterfowl office.
• Once a registration card is filled out, the hunter may approach the registration window to submit
their registration card to the WUT to be enrolled in the daily draw process. The WUT will enter the
hunter into the morning draw. Please note: registration is only required once per season; therefore,
the next time the hunter arrives to hunt, they only have to notify the WUT that they wish to
participate in the draw.
Draw Process:
• At draw time, 4:30 am, the WUT will roll the bin and choose a numbered ball. The WUT will
display the drawn number on the computer screen in the registration window. The hunter(s) will then
make their choice from the remaining blind locations.
