mmmmmm 335 hits but no reply ? The reason I ask is I have 2(two) 16 foot reclaimed telephone poles that I thought would make good posts to mount solar powered flashing lights on .Red and green of course. The kind that you see on Stop signs now a days. A "passing of the hat" amongst all the boaters[ Old Cut Blvd.,Howey Ave.,etc.] that use the channel would/should cover the cost as they are not exactly cheap.

Mebbe the person who put out those barrels doesn't look at Channel 6-8. Anyway, great idea about the solar-powered flashing lights to mark the Old Cut Channel mouth. I'm sure that Pine Road residents will contribute, too.

well I use the cut and launch from posts. I don't have alot but I would be willing to put something in the hat.

but I guess first part is to find out who puts in the markers for sure

OCLP & Canvas, I think the person is on West Pine so will contact him to see if he has seen this post. Skinny, fyi, the channel we are discussing is two channels North of the current or newest "Old Cut"

Hi guys !
To be clear about channels and names of channels I referanced many maps of Long Point and the channel that runs the length of Old Cut Blvd. and enters the Inner Bay at Old Cut Point is the channel in question. The channel over by the marinas is actually Dickerson Creek Channel. The body of water between Rogers Ave and Dickerson Ave. does show up on old[circa.1839 and 1869] British Admiralty Charts but is not named. I can only suppose that at one time in history it could have been a "cut" but long before any map makers were here. I may suggest calling it Ferris's Pond or Channel or Harbour as the family name is well known and geographically/historically connected to the area ? The other channel that is between Old Cut Point and Dickerson is is used primarily by the Long Point Company and I have not researched it's history yet but we've always called it The Company's Channel.

If anybody wishes to contact me here's my E-mail oldcutlongpointer@hotmail.com or I'm usually to be found at or about the end of Old Cut Blvd[ #118]

Thanks !
Chris Kozak
