Knots

Most guys use a double uni-knot. I have tried the Albright special too but find the uni-knot to be easier and better. Check out this website, it has all kinds of knots animated which makes it easy to understand:

I may be wrong, but most guys use mono backing with lead core and a flourocarbon leader which are easy to tie to the lead core after you strip some lead out of the end to be tied. I can't remember seeing braid tied to lead core but I would think the double uni-knot would still be good if not, try the albright for the braid to leadcore and see what you think.
