Does anyone know what the cost is of registering a hut on lake erie?
 
I used the Aylmer office a few years ago to register my hut. They did it all over the phone. Quick and painless unlike many other government run systems.

One other question, I see the deadline in March for the hut removal, now in the instance we get a bad freak wind that busts the ice up before that date and I can't get my hut off, is there a fine? This is a worst case scenario I know, but it could happen on Erie, especially down my way.
 
I believe once your registered you are responsible for getting it off the ice or out of the water if it goes through. I personally don't know of anyone being fined for abandoning a hut, but I think they can charge you with the salvage costs. Being a boat owner I sure wouldn't want to hit one in the soft water season. I always drag mine to shore at the end of the day, its a bit of a hassle but I've been down the 'rescue the ice hut' road before and its not fun.
