I know that a 3/4 Hot lips dive to 30' - but I was wondering if anybody knew how much line on the counter to let out to achieve this depth with braid @ 2.5 mph? Thanks
 
I wouldn't got back any less than 150, it will probably dive that deep sooner but the further from the boat the better.
 
I run a hot lips back 200' and a taildancer back 250'
 
Ive heard a few guys on the vhf have success on hotlips do you run them off boards?or straight back? on mono or braid?Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you can run the Hot Lips straight back with braid or mono - but you would have a better advantage using boards. Reading the other post suggesting letting out between 150' - 200' of line to reach the 30' depth, then I would attach the board and let out another 50' - 100' of line to get the Hot Lips further away from the boat. So now you would be approximately 250' - 300' away from the boat instead of straight back behind the boat at 150' - 200'.
