Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray hits home with me as I have been there many times when I moose hunted just outside the town a few miles in 1985 & 86. My brother worked for Suncor management on the Oil Sands Project for more than 35 years constantly flying from his home in Edmonton and then later from Nanaimo BC where he currently lives. My neighbour who lost his job with the closure of the Sterling Plant in St. Thomas also moved with his family out to Fort McMurray to work for Suncor a few years ago.
The fire is now totally out of control and because of the dry conditions and wind is expected to double in size by the end of today to 2,000 sq. miles. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people of Fort McMurray during this devastating time.
