Fishing Report Durbin creek

[Way She Goes]

Caught a bow fish (mud fish) here in Ponte Vedra area on Durbin creek. Also some large mouth and red bellies. (Sunfish).

Ive onpy ever caught 1 dogfish before 2 or so years ago on the gr and in early may looks totally diffrent down there eh not those bright green fins

They only have green fins when the spawn is on, in two days caught 6 out in front of Collin’s, great fighters.

I've caught several Bowfin (dog fish) off the pier in Pt Bruce over the past few years, as have several others I know who frequent the pier almost (not really) as often as I do. They're fun to catch but annoying at the same time because much like when there's a pike or walleye around, when they're around, the perch usually aren't.

@Hooked on Ice caught that one the same day that a little later I caught the first one I'd ever caught and @Red Hering caught one the day we met in person (the picture of him and I) and he sat and fished with me for a while. I was kind of surprised Red landed it considering it decided to wrap itself around the yellow ladder on the side of the pier, but his expertise and patience paid off as he finessed it away from the ladder and we were able to land it using my net.

Used to catch them this time of the year in the Murray canal when I grew up in BOQ. Great fighting fish, seem to be more prolific in long point the last couple years. Good catch!

Could be the water colour making it darker because of the black water from decaying leaves and cypress trees. First one I ever caught and was a good fight on 6 lb. Mono. Well worth my 3 day license for under $20 bucks.
Had some fresh caught pan seared Wahoo last night. Man was it good. Didn't get in on that trip but reaped the benefits. Maybe next time. Big 2 month tournament here going on till end of March. Some one is leading with over 300 lbs for 3 fish total. If you catch a bigger one you can put them in till the end of the tourney but that will be hard to beat..
Bringing home the warmer weather in April.
