Two men were riding on an ATV in southwestern Lake Simcoe when they fell through the ice.

Seems as tho every year there is at least one story of someone dying while attempting to ice fish.

OPP are warning people to stay off Simcoe. There were ? 7 machines go through yesterday with rescues.

The York Region Police Marine Unit is warning people to stay off Lake Simcoe because of the inconsistency in ice thickness.

I was supposed to go this weekend out of Caseys with our atvs and own shelters but I ended up sick as a dog this week so had to cancel. The guys are still headed up so will be interesting to get the report....fishing or drinking...HMMMM

'Tragedy': 2 bodies recovered from Charleston Lake following search and rescue effort

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered the two bodies from Charleston Lake following a search and rescue effort after three people went into the water while ice fishing around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11.

I heard on the news that the extraordinarily deep water is posing a challenge for the recovery efforts. Just checked the chart and damn that lake is over 300ft deep just off the provincial park.
