Dipsy questions

last run out of burwell i tested out my new dipsy setup with power pro and #1 dipsy divers. i was expecting them to pull out to the side more than what i was seeing on a #3 setting and enough line out for 45-50ft depth. whether they were on straight or #3 they seemed to track straight behind the boat.

should the angle of the line from rod tip to water be noticeable?

can they be adjusted low enough to release when a perch is on?

You will not see the complete direction of the line to the side between the rod tip and water.
The line will go out in a curve most of which will be under the water.
To set a #1 go go off on a perch would be a fine line which would most likely give you many false releases due to current or speed changes.
