Day # 2 inner bay bass

jerk bait

Things started much slower his morning. Picked off a few here and there . The majority of the smallmouth have left the inner bay already. Few here and there. Changed locations and it got better .
Water temp is 73.to 74.
Lots of largemouth around.
Fished 6am to 10am. 25 bass approximately and 6 pike. Kept a couple.badly hooked pike for dinner .
This is the earliest I have ever seen the smallmouth vacate the bay unless the #s were way way way down .

We hit up Normandale Rocks instead after striking out yesterday in the inner bay. Dropshotting soft shad baits netted us 1/2 smallies but we must have had the spirit of Little Bo Peep with us today because we caught enough farm animals to start a farm.

Ended the morning casting spinnerbaits in the weeds for a few small largemouth.

Lots of sheep kicking around.
It's a bit disappointing the smallies are gone and moved deeper. There were lots of boats yesterday that got skunked unfortunately. It's a little concerning that this is the second year in a row the smallmouth have departed well before the opener .
