Thats a beautiful set up for one person i also have the quick fish 3i and its good for 2 people 3 is really cramped in it
Unfortunately we didnt make the trip today dads ford eco van broke in toronto while we were working we couldnt let off the gas or it would just quit so we limped it back from toronto keeping the accelerator down a bit while usimg the brake it only stalled 3 or 4 times on the highway in the traffic but were planning on going next weekend hopefully the weather is better cold in the morning and warming up later but the wimds were going to staft picking up later in the day also im glad we didnt go because i need to set up and tear this hut down a few more times before im on the ice its not complicated but it sure is diffrent then just the 3 manner
so for the reveiw on the hut
I really like it so far even tho i have not used it out side yet but for the first impressions its good its huge to say the least 12'x12' inside 2 doors one of witch is a full door i cant take a picture of it from out side because its too big to fully set up in the basment
It comes with 13 ancors and a really cool system it has a strap from the side of the tent that bolts down with the corner as well as the side tie downs it uses srtaps instead of that tent twine most other shacks use witch ive never trusted 100% it has over head nets for storage and deep wide pouches in side for staorage it also has 4 rod/tool holder on the sides witch will be better then putting stuff inbetween the poles and the tent
For the specs it has 7 sides 6 of witch are 69.50" and a 35" i belive door for the 7th side the wall height is 69" and the ceilling is 82" with a whopping 103sqft of fishing area it weighs 64lbs has 2 or 3 windows up high and the same lower for seeing you tip ups or looking out at the sunrise from you cot it has 2 ports for a hose to the heater and 2 vents up high i really like the pouches for the straps on the out side so its not a tangled mess un packing and the straps have a heavey duty metal clasp on the tent end and is looped on the anchor end with a nice buckel to tighten (i have heard that putting a few twists in the straps will keep them from vibrating in the wind)
When setting up in the wind you would have to peg one corner and unfold and pop a side out at a time not like the smaller ones where you can unfold and peg the 2 back corners before poping any of the side up but with the size and weight of it i dont think it would blow away (unless its that crazy stupid day last year when i tried long point for the first amd only time ice fishing and my hut blew away in that big storm just to top off the whole day of shouldnt be here) love the new hut cant wait to set it up on the water next weekend if everythi g goes to plan i hope that helped you out Mr. Red if you want any more infromation feel free to ask since ill be leaving it up for a day or two before i practice again i want the rest of the family to see what there missing
Good luck to anyone out there fishing today the wind is ripping hear in wellandport
Excellent “breakdown” information
@FrankTheTank about your 6-8 person hub,and I almost finished up my whole cup of coffee
️ lol
from your very detailed report, and thanks
so much for your time, which is greatly appreciated.
But sorry to read as well, about the issues with your dads Ford Eco truck
,but at least you all made it back home safe!!
That would have been terrible to have stalled out 3 or 4 times!!,in all of that Toronto traffic
and what a headache that would have been & No Thanks!!
Thanks as well for your remark on my 2 man portable ice hut, which isn’t actually too bad for me to use,( I have had it for around 15 years now),considering I normally fish solo, and I can man handle it by myself. But, I will still keep my eye open on a 4 person Otter insulated hub,and there are a few fishing show’s coming up,within the next few month’s,which I am thinking of attending,to see if there are any Otter Ice Hub’s out there on the season end clearance sales. Thanks for offering me more information
@FrankTheTank if I need it on your Hub,and I will keep you in mind. Good luck & tight lines to you
@FrankTheTank and others, when you all will be out ice fishing for the first time, with your new 6-8 person Otter hub. Be Safe to you All,and myself and likely others, will be looking forward to your ice fishing report, when and if you do get out to use it for the first time. Tight Lines & Perch ON!!
