With no ice fishing season yet so far on long point bay,( if it does ever come this year),I therefore have been thames river walleye fishing,so I am just curious, because I haven’t seen any Thames River walleye,( yes… walleye’s), not pickerel,( lol 😆😉 ),report’s,here on @stomp Am I the only one walleye fishing? 🤔 🤨 🙂 I realize that it is quite early yet in this “young” 2023 walleye season for the “main” run of walleye’s to be around. But the Thames River is now wide open as of now, from the previous freezing which we had along the thames riverbank earlier, which made it impossible then to cast from the riverbank, and then afterwards we had a major flood as well, which of course did open up the river from ice, etc. 🎣👍🙂 I did manage so far this January to make it out 4 times, for some thames river walleye fishing,( 2 walleye’s caught in total, likely “residential” walleye’s),and my last day out walleye fishing was on January 12,2023,which was a very foggy morning that day,but very beautiful 🤩 I am now waiting for the thames river to improve somewhat, such as in another flood,( to bring up the walleye’s,from Lake St.Clair & Lake Erie, etc.,) & also warmer river temperatures, etc.,as well,to the walleye’s liking, for them to migrate & spawn in. Meanwhile this morning,I have been going through my walleye tackle and waiting for my next day out on the thames river,to try my luck for walleye’s again. The thames river is “ Huge!” with many walleye fishing spot’s available. Wishing everyone a great thames river walleye season in Zone 16,while it is here till March 15,2023, east side of the Keil Bridge in Chatham,if you were planning on walleye fishing in that stretch of the thames river. Be Safe & Tight Lines & Walleye’s ON!! to All!! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟🤞🤞😉👍😎

Great to hear from you @Three Bouys 👍👍🙂 & Thanks 🙏 👊👊 and those walleye’s were definitely great eaters 🐟🐟😋 I am looking forward for some more nice eater size walleye’s again soon.🎣 The Springbank Dam area isn’t looking too bad to try for some walleye’s there as well one day. So many walleye spot’s to try on the “mighty” Thames River.Tight lines & Walleye’s ON!! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟 🤞😉👍🙂

Red where do you usually target winter river walleye? Slow/fast current, back eddies?
A great question @Tyler0420 👍😉 during cold river conditions,I would prefer to fish for walleye’s in slow currents,( fast currents,”zaps”
their energy, especially in cold water ). I will usually fish back eddie’s,during higher, flooded river conditions. I hope that this helps you somewhat, and tight lines & Walleye’s ON!! 🎣🐟🐟👍🙂

Thanks red. I fished the grand today in brantford. One carp zero walleye.

At least you didn’t get 🦨 skunked @Tyler0420 and a carp puts up a great fight! 👊👊 A great looking photo of the grand river as well, and also a good choice for colour on that twister tail you were using,to try to catch a walleye! 🎣🐟👍 The river walleye fishing will only get better,as the day’s are getting longer, and the river’s temperature are rising,to eventually bring up the migration of walleye’s,in some of our Southwestern,Ontario river’s. Tight lines & Walleye’s ON!! to the rest of your walleye fishing season. 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟🤞😉👍🙂

we definitely could use some rain, @Tyler0420 and warmer temperatures to bring up some walleye’s,into the Thames River system, where I like to fish for walleye’s there. It looks like some milder temperatures and rain are being forecasted for next week,as of now. Tight lines & Walleye’s ON!! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟🤞😉👍😎
