Decided to try Collins as I had no intention of crossing any cracks with weather being what it is. After a quick chat with mr. Red "thumbs up" herring we hit the ice & headed towards bait island. Got on a nice piece of ice near the crack with no neighbours near by, drilled a few holes and got on with it.. Water was Crystal clear and could easily sight fish while standing outside. Fishing was just how one would like to be for the 1st few hrs, catching! Then it died right off. Stuck it out there in the area drilling more holes 100ft this way, that way,100' more that, every way! hoping the cruising schools we had earlier in the Day would return. Didn't even see a damn thing for the next few hrs.
Made a strait run to shore to sure fishing some holes already drilled on our way back to truck just to see what was there. Gobs of little perch.. Maybe some bigger to be had but we didn't fish it long just wanted to if there was signs of life in case we get another run at it in the comming days.
Put 40 nice perch,10" avarage, in the bucket along with a 27" pike. Gold/silver & gold 40 Williams wobler all Day.
Start of the day the ice was solid/tight. By days end around 4pm the top 2" inch was crumbly just to walk on.
Pressure crack were ugly and im sure soft. Seen a couple bikes in the distance doing what looked like wheelies in one spot,(ass end fell through while crossing crack) recovered easily. Couple side by side and atv bounced there way back across..looked pretty rough on the machine.
Lots of anglers on the ice and lots moving around in search of..
