Fishing Report Smallmouth Oct 30

Well pulled a last minute audible and snuck out for some more smallies today. A little breezy and rough but it played off. Landed 18 today with several in the 4 lb range. Water was a touch warmer today 51F. Fished between 2 and 6. Pictured are a 4.21 4.45 and a 4.80 and 5.68.

Nice looking smallmouth bass again @spilliard1 and congratulations!! ??I kind of figured that the fishing was going to be good today with the warmer temperatures and all of that sunshine,and I almost hooked up my boat yesterday(Monday),to make the 3 hour round trip drive down to long point bay today,but I was too lazy to get my tackle,boat,etc.,together,LOL,and I decided instead to fish locally from shore for walleye’s and bass,and whatever was biting!! I fished for about 4 hours,and I didn’t catch any walleye’s,but the smallmouth bass,(not as big as your bass),but the bass(photo’s),that I did catch today,were very feisty!! It was a great day to be outdoors,and one day I will still trailer my boat down to long point bay before I winterize my boat,for hopefully some pike and bass action!! Tight Lines & Fish ON!! ????

Awesome! I've tried to capitalize on the fall SM fishery a few times in recent years and failed. Once upon a time I could catch them all along the north shore with minnow baits but because fishing often conflicted with my addiction to hunting I eventually hung up my rods in mid September. Getting too old to focus on hunting and finding my old fall fishing strategies are no longer as reliable as they were 20 years ago. Great to read your reports and realize the fish are still out there.
