Something for Erie

Back in the early days of shipping on the Great Lakes and right up to around 1950, accounts of releasing "storm oil" by ships and vessels in trouble or those participating in a rescue was common. Not sure what "storm oil" really was (ie lube oil, fuel oil, furnace etc) and was also carried aboard the lifeboats on a lot of the sailing ships and freighters of the day. On the lifeboats it was poured into a sea anchor (drift sock) that had a small valve on the end that would be cracked open and allowed to trickle out making things on the lifeboat a little better. On the oceans, whale oil was used as "storm oil". It achieved the same effect as the olive oil in the video.
