Where to mount downrigger?

Hey I have a 17 foot princecraft that I’m putting a downrigger on, anyone have some ideas of where to put it? Should I just mount it near my musky rod holders with a riser? It’s a cannon easi troll, so I can’t put it on my Scotty plates back there. I’m not sure if I would even want to because it would possibly pull out if I just had it mounted on the floor… if that’s the case then should I get one of the boards that goes on the gunnel to a mount on the floor?

Thanks in advance! Always appreciate the help.

Heres a pic of mounts I made up in the shop. They bolted through the deck portion with a steel backing plate...they were going nowhere. I tapped the backing plate so the mount could be unbolted easily

That's gorgeous, you made those yourself? I'm not sure I have the skill or tools to do that but I guess I'll see what dad thinks lol

I have a similar model to your boat. I used risers so that I could remove them easy to get the cover on and off. I pulled a section of deck up and put and aluminum backer plate on the underside with thru bolts and nylocs.

I use canon tracks and traxtech risers ( bought used) so the riggers are easily removable. My riggers are long arm so I installed them about 1 1/2 ft off transom for easier handling. They can be set up while just sitting at the back.

On my princecraft, thr cover goes over it
