Well, a friend of mine talked me into visiting an island on ranger lake that his dad bought 40 years ago. They had not been up there in 30 years though. The island is 20 acres....half his dad's and half crown. So packed up my boys 6/7 and buddy and off we went to the Sault for the long weekend.
The last leg of the journey was 50km of logging road....still found some snow
..had a great time up there...and the boys caught their first lake trout too.
Trolled for lakers in the 20-60 fow range w spoons, core, dipseys, planers etc. Got a bunch of eaters for the kids.
Some nasty woodpeckers up there
On the way home, of course flat tire on trailer....that was fun but had the spare so not a big deal.
Great adventure though. The boys called it adventure island.
