Slow day so far.

Went straight out from Gilford road
In 20 ' of water

1 - little perch (7") and 1 lost minnow is only action for me

Fellow 6-8 member and his kids are in hut next too me .... think they had little more action , but no keepers yet.

Nice day to be out anyway

Rented a hut today from Hot Box Huts at the end of second line on Cooks Bay with 4 of my Sons and daughters. 2 tiny perch so far. Beautiful day out.

Went out of Virginia Beach Friday 8-10” if ice. Jeeps,suvs and vans out on the ice. Fishing was slow only 4 keepers.

Ya Wayne, cooks I find is though fishing on ice , even my best day there I can count on one hand keeper size perch ,
Spring is just around the corner can hardly wait to get after them from the boat

@Puddle Jumper I was up there yesterday out of Virginia Beach. Ice thickness is between 7”-9”. We moved 3 times and again when the day is almost over the big girls showed up. The last 2-2.5 hrs we ended up 28 keepers all in the 9“-13” range. For the first time I didn’t have to clean the fish, my son cleaned them as I hadn’t had enough sleep. I plowed snow for 8.5 hrs early Friday morning and never slept all day, had 4 hrs sleep Friday night and back out at midnight till 4:00 am Saturday morning. My son was picking me at 6:00 am to head to Virginia Beach

How did the next gen do with the cleaning @Three Bouys ? Up to your standard?

@stomp he did a pretty good, I wasn’t going to complain as I didn’t have to clean them. Although when I went to the shop this morning I had to look in the pail to inspect the carcasses. Just need to get him use to using the electric knife.

We left the ice at 4 this afternoon. My daughter caught a 10" perch, another six were caught that were in the 6"-7" range. Two of them would have died anyway, so I figured they might as well join the 10" on my dinner plate. Slim pickings for us today, but we had a blast.
Just a side note, someone from the neighborhood of the hut operators called them in to the authorities this morning regarding operating their business in contravention of the covid "rules". OPP showed up as we were getting our gear together to head out on the ice. They didn't find anything amiss, so were given the green light to proceed with their business.
