I have a Chaparral Tri-Hull Bow rider with 1973, 65 HP Johnson, that I bought used over 30 years ago. I have always done all my own maintenance and repairs, the basic stuff, plugs, water pump, lower end oil, new starter, rebuilt the carburetors and so on.
It has never failed to start and run once, but this year I am having trouble with the Spark advance timing base sticking. It is under the fly-wheel, I suspect the grease has dried up, causing it to stick.
Rather than me pulling it apart, I want to take into a shop, and have them do it and set the timing, and do link and sync. (this has never been done in the 30 years I have had it)
I have been thinking of trying Stauder's Outboard Solutions in St .Thomas, but I don’t know if they are any good.
Does anyone know of good outboard repair shop in the London/St. Thomas area?
Thanks, Mike.
