I was wondering if anybody could give any info about duck hunting in Long Point outside of the unit. Is there any mapping that shows what is private or public land? Is there any special regulations like distance from land or no trespassing signs.(I'm guessing there is.) I want to try it in my boat but I don't want to end up somewhere I shouldn't be. I was hunting out of #4 walkout and saw lots of boats hunting just past the unit to the east, can anyboady hunt there or is that land private? Any info would help alot. Thanks

The LPWMU ends a little east of Blind #4. As long as you are outside the signs and not more than (I believe 300 meters) from the weed line you should be OK. I'm not positive about the maximum legal distances off shore/weedlines/signs etc. but know for sure that there are restrictions in the Inner Bay.

Hello Duxbury,

This will clarify and confirm what Duck Soup has said ... you must be within 300 meters of shore or of an EMERGENT (above the surface of the water) weed bed while waterfowl hunting within the inner bay.

The area beyond that 300 meters within the inner bay is to permit the "divers" an opportunity to feed.

As for the signs ... as long as you are outside the signs and within the 300 meters as stated above you are good to go.
