I just received a message from Ted Barney, Long Point Waterfowl saying that US hunters may not be permitted to bring birds harvested here in Ontario home due to concerns about Avian Influenza. I'm not sure this makes a whole lot of sense since migratory birds are headed state side one way or the other but political leaders don't need rational objectives to put questionable laws in place. We will have to wait and see exactly how this one plays out.
"FYI - Aphis just lifted the restriction on transporting poultry (included harvested pheasants and waterfowl, etc.) from Canada to the US. Luckily common sense quickly prevailed!!"
