Another year for great boating and fishing, finally. This is what I see looking out the patio doors.

08:00 dead calm, glass like water. Nice day to get out there, so far. Slight breeze from due South according to the Wind Turbines. If I'm around later this afternoon I'll give an update.

Be smart, stay safe.

Stopped home to stir my Pasta sauce and get some rods rigged for tomorrow's quarry. 12:20 wind has picked up with a few white caps on 2 foot waves straight onshore wind from due south still.

Mon. May 25th 10:25AM. Hoover PointHaldimand. South wind, smaller 6" to 1 foot chop on shore and there are occasional small whitecaps 1 mile out. Be careful.

12:00 Wed. Wind has picked up from SW, Waves less than 1 foot with a few white caps out further from shore.

16:25 Wed. Light 10K wind SSW. Water similar as at noon. Nice evening for a boat ride. It's like late June out here today, just gorgeous. 22C on the deck lakeside. This time of the year it should be mid teens this time of the afternoon. I like it a lot.

Not to question your observations but Environment Canada suggests that a boat ride this evening may not be such a good idea:

Summary
Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorms are expected to begin this afternoon and persist into early evening. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm. For more information: http://www.ontario.ca/beprepared.

They are absolutely right. My wife beeped the horn in the driveway 5 minutes ago. In that time the sky has turnrd black and noe it's blowing like a Mama copulator. The satellite just went out.

NO BOAT RIDES TONIGHT

A perfect example of watch and listen to Env. Canada before you take my advise. Horty and I can only tell you what we see at that exact moment in time.

EDIT: I was writing this note at 17:45 when the sky went black and the storm came in and before I could push the send the power went out. A good reason to go for dinner in Dunnville. \

OFF TOPIC,

For anyone out this way a new Vietnamese/Thai restaurant opevved up across the street fron Bob's Family Dinner in Dunnville. If you like Vietnamese or Thai foods it is really good. Some of the best Shrimp Cold Rolls I ever had. I hope they do well. They have 4 other restaurants from Guelph and 2 in T.O. I like Viet/Thai better then Canadian Chinese.

I've learned my lesson. I will never suggest again anyone to head out on this lake. I will report what I see and then you all check with all the available weather services and Marine reports and then decide if you want to go out on this crazy lake. You decide because I no longer have a liability lawyer on retainer. It has been a while since I've seen a storm come up so fast. If there were pleasure craft out there at 17:45 it must have been scary for sure. It only came down for 10 minutes here but that wind had to go from 15 KPH to over 40 in 5 minutes. It cleaned all the dead branches off my trees and a few squirrels became flying squirrels.

Was anyone here out there when the storm came up?

No worries WTP, I wasn't trying to start anything.....just giving a heads up.

No problem Sir, my response had nothing to do with your post. I really shouldn't recommend going out on the lake because she is so moody like last night. Wow she kicked up fast.

17:00 Thursday, very light South wind, small ripples on the surface.

Dead calm water and air. Visibility is maybe a mile only.

Check your Marine Weather before going out.

11:30 Sat/05/30. Light wind 5 to 10K from SW. Slight Walleye chop, no white caps. On the cooler side than yesterday. 54C here.
edit: OK not 54C here, 54F. That's better.

Check your Marine Weather forecast before heading out.

What's going on out at Hoovers?
I was by there a couple of weeks ago and there was major construction going on.
Is it open for regular business?

Dave sold the business. It is business as usual there. Many new renovations. I have heard everything from moving a couple of hundred thousand yards of soil for a new parking lot to a new Casino going up there. Who knows but they are open.
