Spring Pike

Years ago we used to go and spear pike after the ice was out of big creek. Back in the water filled bogs off the side of the creek. This technique is now banned.

Just curious if anyone has any luck fishing for them in the lowlands at this time of year. They are obviously in the spawning run and I don't know if they would actually bite at a presentation??
Any thoughts??

Caught this one last week at St. Williams ice fishing in-front of Booths in about 4 1/2 FOW if that helps. Going to try tomorrow for another.
