Access to NCC lands
As a result of the current impact of COVID-19, the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) urges you to follow public health advisories and stay home.

NCC properties are now closed until further notice.

We know nature is important in our lives and good for our health and well-being, especially in stressful times. But together, we can do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.

Please stay home, and enjoy nature virtually. Watch our website for updates.

We also remind you that you are responsible for your own health and safety. Please respect social distancing guidelines at all times.

For any inquiries, please call: 1.877.231.3552. I just got off the phone with Megan Smith she is desperately trying to get the word out.

I love how they remind us how our health and safety is our own responsibility, while taking away our opportunities to take responsibility for our own health and safety.
Agreed....plus I'm sure @rastam4n gets it! .....But other
humans take no responsibility for their own health & safety......or we would be over this by now. 93219064_3233217746689317_4674097889012613120_o.jpg
I now have a PLAN B:
Dismantle the O.H.I.P in this province & introduce a "Privatized Health Care System....Pay as u go" and maybe us humans will start to take responsibility.
I've always wondered what it co$t$ to visit the E.R. at my local hospital during Covid-19....

If she’s trying to get the word out she has most peoples email addresses and they should put signage up as people are still using the lands as of today.

You can move to the USA if you like that type of healthcare system better.

Signage is up but very sparsely. Some of the high use areas are posted but most is not. I've been doing the backroad boogey the past few days trying to figure out where I'm spending my 50th opener. Thankfully I've been granted sole access to 2 properties on 2 totally different systems on private land. As long as we are still free to drive where we need to in a little over a week I'm going to be sitting in the predawn darkness listening to the real world waking up, soaking up the energy of the bush.

Okee Dokee ! Here's a guy that didn't read the instructions. Fishing or Off Topic related … OK. Had he read a bit deeper he would have seen this was dealt with on Shots Fired page already. All well and good but these fishing guys get touchy when you post other stuff on their page.

The US health care system is better for anyone that is responsible!
And as for sending people out for rescues and such under the current situation? Why would or should we? It’s called survival of the fittest.

From what I've gleaned from hunting in several different states is that the US system is better...if you have money.TC

If you have private healthcare insurance thru your employer, yes the US system can be better. If you don’t your screwed.
It’s not about being responsible,it’s about having insurance down there.

I heard Norfolk County was cracking down on people accessing public lands, especially people not from Norfolk. Can anyone confirm this? Would love to hit Big Creek but don't want to come back to my truck and find a $500 to $800 ticket on my windshield.

Health care in Canada:
- It's not free , if you have taxable income you pay into it based on your income
- every one is covered on basic health care in Canada with some restrictions regarding " "time spent outside the country " a good thing
- if you need a specialist for some things wait times are incredibly long , specialist doctors also can refuse you as a patient
" I know from first hand experience "
To get looked at quickly if you have a doctor with better conection or if you have a contact personally than you are good
- some things are not covered in Canada
Certain types of blood test , eye exam test of a certain type that you have to pay for

USA:
- no insurance no service " bad thing " if you cant afford it, but there are some free healthcare programs for the ones that can't afford it by different organizations
- if you pay out of pocket it's very expensive
- no wait times , no refusals, better personal service by health care providers " if you the one with insurance or money "

So bottom line what would you rather have ?
Access to health care any time even if it's not the best / long waiting or shit out of luck if you can't afford it
I take the first one personally but also reserve the rigth to bitch about the problems , in a perfect system we would have everything in a matter of hours until than be happy we are getting medical help even if you can't afford it, but it's not free

I dont believe anyone is getting tickets for travel, its suggested not to , not a total lockdown with marshal law " yet?" And you are not on closed down areas such as conservation properties
I had not been fishing trout opener for years due to the amount of people on the rivers
" dont have private property access " if I do go its after the days of the opener much quieter than
I would not be going myself to well known public access areas now as it will be over loaded due to shutdown on other points of access by various agencies that been used in the past
Good luck if you go , post some pictures

Thanks Ticker, I'll be avoiding opener as you said, its usually a shit show. I usually only go weekdays to avoid the weekend crowd, but this year with everyone off that may be difficult. I will definitely be avoiding Quance Dam.

Well, not anytime soon..... My apologies for steering the thread in the wrong direction. My point was people would think twice, if it involved their pocket book.90844627_10215125245955995_751856732656893952_o.jpg90844627_10215125245955995_751856732656893952_o.jpg
