Fishing Report My opener

I was on the water at 3am (yes, I said 3am, lol!). I enjoyed the calm ride and night sky on the way out. I didn't spend much time trying for smallmouth early. I had the itch to fish largemouth, so I changed plans and headed into the shallows. I ran into some incidental smallmouth while moving between weed beds. Landed four of them. Biggest was 3.8'ish and caught on my largemouth baits.

I found a good pile of largemouths. Ended the day with over 30 bass, and a few pike. Lost a couple nice ones at the boat too. Quite a few largemouth were over 3lbs which is very nice to see. And over all, they were all good size with a few dinks here and there.

Nicely done @Jello with some great photo’s and some good looking bass that you have caught yesterday,on the opening of the bass season. You reminded me of myself in the past year’s launching that early for the opening of the bass season out from that boat ramp. Marina Shores used to run a excellent Bass Derby for many year’s,(26 straight year’s that I fished it),and I used to fish it every year on the opening of the Bass season,sometimes with my wife,or a friend,and solo as well. I guess that the mosquitoes weren’t too bad for you,because they were definitely a pest(photo),when I used to launch that very early in the morning’s. Tight lines and Bass ON!!

@Red Hering No mosquitoes at that hour. I've come into the park launch at dusk many time and have been eaten alive though.

Thanks, and that’s good to know @Jello I will leave my mosquitoe repellent at home the next time!! lol Just kidding,because those mosquitoes just can’t seem to get enough of my “sweet” blood!! lol All the best to you & tight lines and Bass ON!!
