With the beautiful rain we had, irrigation is put on hold and a bit of R&R was on the agenda for this afternoon. Took my dad, mom, son(Bryce) and nephew out for some smallie action. Strong east wind when we started, but it started to lay down after bit, the smallies didn't care if it was an east wind, they wanted to play. It was slow at first, since we were anchored, but I broke out a chatter bait and what I didn't catch on the cast , the rest of the crew caught by the boat with leeches. Got five bass in the first six cast with the chatter bait and all were big girls. Went through 25 bass, with at least 10 lost at the boat and again that many farther out on the chatter bait. Bryce and his cousin had a blast, so did mom and dad. But the chatter bait on my rod was just a thrill a minute.
