will be going up to the kawarthas in a couple days for a fishing trip, will be targeting musky, what do you think would be the best lakes to check out for musky? what time of day is the bite for them the best? any help is appreciated
 
I just got back from the north and the best lures that worked for me was a yellow #3 Mepps and a white #3 Mepps, the buck tail ones work great too. Seemed to have better luck fishing for them after supper between 6 and sundown. Not sure what it was about that time of day but it was the best fishing time for both musky and pike! Try Mepps Muskie and Mepps Magnum killer spinners. Also good are Rapala super shad raps. Try weedbeds and submerged rock piles. What lake are you fishing?

If Balsam, try the west and south bays - have produced some big fish. Also try out in front off the entrance to Rosedale (channel that leads to the locks for Cameron).
 
If you want to try Pigeon Lake - head to the north end of the lake - fish the shoreline - casting spinner baits - find the drop offs - weed edge to deeper water - bigger trolling baits - if you want to troll
