Dabbling Duck Migration Forecasts

Throughout autumn and winter 2012/13, Long Point Waterfowl will be posting weekly dabbling duck migration forecasts for the Mississippi and Atlantic Flyways.

The weekly migration forecasts will be updated each Monday morning and are the only science-based migration forecasts available online.

The forecasts we will produce are based on research conducted by the Long Point Waterfowl Scientist (Dr. Michael Schummer), Long Point Waterfowl graduate student (Lena Vanden Elsen) and partners throughout North America (e.g., Mississippi State University).

Follow the link below to where the forecasts will be posted each Monday. And follow/LIKE Long Point Waterfowl on Facebook where the forecasts also will appear.

Hello Guys,

Hopefully more members of the LPWA as well as non-members will recognize the research that Long Point Waterfowl is conducting and contribute financially on an annual basis.

PS You can pick up a copy of their Fall 2012 Annual Report at the Waterfowl Management Unit.

Too much work, but yes a few times out, very slow this year so far.

The "Frankenstorm" Dabbling Duck Migration forecast for this week is up on the Long Point Waterfowl Facebook page and our web page

http://longpointwaterfowl.org/migration-forecast/

We should get some birds (especially diving ducks) from the west as the Canadian Prairies (and north) start to freeze-out, but the weather in the Great Lakes and east where we derive the majority of our mallards from remains relatively mild, the rains from Sandy will likely help hold birds in the area but it also will scatter them on the landscape.

SAFE hunting this week.
