chum line

Was out of Burwell Sunday and doing well fishing along the chum line when the inboard starting hacking and knocking and could smell things were very hot and smoking. Shut down engine just in time and out from under the outdrive came this helium balloon that was caught in the intake for the engine. If had not shut down would have fried the motor. Had to wait for 20 or so min. till cooled enough to start again and were on our way. Just a little heads up for some guys who do fish the line in hopes it will help someone. Got our fish on green and silver nastyboy on the rigger in sixty ft. down 40. Tight lines boys.

Wow talk about luck good thing you noticed it.What were you catchin walleyes or bows?

All eyes. One at 8 lbs & three at 3 or 4 lbs. One bass and one sheephead to round out the day. After the motor issue we called it a day in case of any damage to it. Doesn't look like it though. Ran fine back in once temp came down.

I do believe it is called a "scum line"
A chum line is formed by fishermen using " chum" or ground up fish to attract salt water species.
