cannon balls

Hello I am new to trolling on lake Erie . I bought a couple of down riggers . Just wondering how heavy of a cannon ball do i need for lake Erie ? I was thinking on buying 8lb fish shaped ones . Thanks again for the help .

Ya 8 lbs will work just fine!

I have same one in 8lb, seems to work fine, however i have had several more experienced guys tell me at least 10lbs

I'd go for Pancake balls instead of the fish. They track better and don't pull back as far so you're not compensating for depth. 10lb balls are probably best.
