Can anyone identify this fingerling?

It very well could be a rainbow smelt.
Tail looks right.
Roughly how long was it?

There were several, a couple went down stream past me every 10-15 seconds
They were between 3” -4” long, there’s a spot on the shoulder behind the Gill plate

Size also seems to confirm smelt.

Google shad and see if the spot looks right.

Looks like a gizzard shad to me.
They have dots like that.

If you took that picture from a drone then I'd say it's a Tarpon.
