Anyone else making syrup?

This is our first year making maple syrup. It's been a lot of fun and also a ton of work. We made enough to share some with family and friends, 5.8 litres.

So far we have made candied nuts. So good! I can't wait for a pancake dinner or breakfast. Going to try some in bbq sauce. Let me know if you have any must try maple syrup recipes.

Looks like the season may be over, not sure how I feel about that. This has been one wacky winter/spring.

I think it's pretty cool how the syrup has changed colour as the season has gone on. Started so light, ended so dark.

Started a few years ago with just the 10 silver maple along the lane way. Highest yield was 60l finished and probably only half that this year but it’s just something to do and gives friends/family and neighbours a freebie!

Our camp bought a 20l personalized whiskey barrel that we use to make our own maple whiskey each spring that we crack open in the December hunt

That's a lot of syrup from 10 trees. Must be big trees.

Finally made that bbq sauce I was thinking about. Pretty good. Similar to a diana sauce. Tried it out on a bbq chicken pizza.. I'm not usually a fan of pizza that has different sauces. Man it was good. Not sure I could taste the maple flavor but it was a nice level of sweetness.
