The day of the youth hunt the mentor will be required to provide a valid Ontario Small Game License and a Federal Migratory Bird Permit.



3. Equipment



In order to help us make your hunt a successful and enjoyable day, please let us know what equipment you will be bringing, and any special requirements you may have. It is required that you bring your own shotgun and please remember that the Ontario Law requires that youth and mentor must share only one firearm.

4. Food and Lodging

There will be a BBQ dinner on Friday evening the 19th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, at Long Point Waterfowl’s Research & Education Centre, 546 Turkey Point Road. There is no cost for you, your mentor and your guide. Dinner will be followed by a mandatory two hours of instructions and demonstrations on Firearms Safety, Rules and Regulations, Duck and Goose Calling, Waterfowl Identification and Decoy Placement. Please be there by 5 and be prepared to stay until 8:00PM.


Long Point Waterfowl is offering subsidized overnight lodging (bunkhouse style) and breakfast at the Research & Education Centre for you and your mentor at a reduced price of $25 per person.

IMPORTANT

There is no cost to the youth for this event; however a $15.00 Application Fee is required to hold your spot for the Long Point Heritage Hunt. The $15.00 will be refunded the day of the event. Cheques should be made payable to The Long Point Waterfowlers Association and accompany your application.


This event is limited to 20 young hunters. Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis however we will give preference to those youth who have not participated before. Young hunters who have participated before are welcome and encouraged to apply but understand that will be selected only if we don’t fill the event with those who have not had a chance to participate before. Please apply early, we always fill up but each year there is a confusing rush at the last minute.
