“Live” from the Port Bruce pier,in search for the “Elusive” Perch!!🐟🧐 (lol-🤣). 🎣🐟😉👍🙂

I arrived at the port bruce pier around 12:30 p.m. today,(August 16/21),and likely way too late for perch fishing!! It looks like that I didn’t miss anything according to a couple of angler’s that I had talked to on the pier,because they had no luck at all!! The rivermouth was quite muddy around the pier,and a ways out into the lake the mudline went!! (thumbs down to those conditions),so therefore I didn’t even take my fishing tackle out of my truck to give it a try for some perch.Instead while I was there, I ordered some lunch at a local take out there in port bruce,and then I decided to go back to port stanley where I first had a look today,(before port bruce),to see if the fishing conditions were any good there,and the water clarity was much better there at port stanley. So off to port stanley I go now for the afternoon bite & hopefully tight lines & maybe some perch ON!! Fish or no fish for me today,it was still great just to get out of town for a few hours before the rain comes this afternoon. Enjoy the rest of your day to All!!

Yeah you didn't miss anything Red. There's a reason I don't usually go at this time of the year. (I sent you a pm lol) Generally, at least in my experience sittin on that pier, by the end of the second week of July, the perch that were around have gone deep again and while you'll occasionally get one here and there, they aren't there in numbers or size anymore (until mid-late October or November, at least that's what I've been told, but I can't confirm that because by then I've made the seasonal transition from fishing season to hockey season and I'm hibernating again)

Thanks & your welcome @fishlessam as mentioned, I didn’t even try fishing in port bruce & yes I had a nice meal there for sure. I almost ordered a perch burger,but it was quite “pricey!!” I am here in port stanley now to finally cast my line for the first time today.

I saw the smelt there on their menu @wildeye rainbow in port bruce,and the next time I will try them for sure. I miss eating those smelts,especially from back in the 70th’s when places like port stanley had a good smelt run there,and we were allowed to catch them then off the port stanley pier.

If the lake wasn’t so rough today @Wave Runner I would of have brought my boat today,which is red,to fish for walleye’s and rainbow’s,instead of trying to catch perch & gobies & sheephead’s from shore.
