Did pretty good fishing the big otter the past couple days, noticed some of the fish still have full colour and arent white like most fish that have been In the river awhile, just curious if anyone knows if they would live out In the lake and come in just to spawn…? Any input is appreciated hoping to be able to find them in the summer as well .

Good work Brody... I'm not sure about the Otter & Lake Erie.. And man, you know more about crappie in the south than I do. But up north they usually head back out away from their spawning areas to deeper weed edges once they spawn. And as I'm sure you know, they tend to hit main lake basins in the winter. Crappie have always evaded me in the summer too bud. But you know us Bonin's.. if it ain't a bass, it ain't no use come late June. lol Keep crushing it man.

Also... The lighter ones may be white crappie, vs. black crappie, no?

Nice catch, some real beauties there!! Looking at your pics, the lighter bared ones look to be white crappie which are naturally lighter. Most often crappie can be found in the same areas in the fall as they are found in the spring during the spawn but are often overlooked in the fall. Once they finish spawning as mentioned above they tend to move out to deeper weed edges and cooler water which make them harder to locate, but if you're willing to put in the work they can be caught year round.

I caught one in Port Bruce out in 30feet of water by chance, was targeting perch
If I remember correctly I caught it as I was reeling up my minnows to check on them

BozoBrody fshrmn4life is rite you have white and black crappies there. The black crappies will actually get even darker the longer there in spawning.
