Cranking battery

When it comes to a boat cranking battery would you only buy a marine grade battery for the job or are you fine with buying a battery from the automotive industry?

Deep cycle Interstate 3 years ago so far so good. I think "Marine" is like the shop light that's 40$ more with "gro" on box

You should always use a marine battery in your boat for the reasons in the link @stomp gave and also for this reason.

Unlike car batteries which generally travel on smooth, sealed roads, marine batteries must be able to resist vibration from wave pounding and trailer transport. Repeated vibration and wave impact on non-marine batteries can cause damage and cracks to appear in the battery's internal components and outer case.

Think mines got a deka in it came with boat when i bought it from proctors in 2019 still going strong
