Last thursday, january 9/20 while day tripping from London down to the Port Rowan area,I noticed that the ice was starting to form on long point bay,and the boat channel’s,and things were starting to look promising for perhaps a ice fishing season coming up soon.F2109621-235C-452C-B31C-FE58376CC7A7.jpeg 50525CF0-777A-4F3E-AE43-DDADC0954818.jpegA1355FA1-2EF9-4BB7-BD08-265BBFFAFE49.jpeg 5B1F67B7-598D-434A-8009-D708545A01A2.jpeg But,things changed drastically since yesterday,(friday),with milder temperatures and steady rain!! This morning,(saturday, january 11),I took a drive out to Fanshawe Dam F2682970-276F-4EBD-91C2-7D227FAEA27C.jpeg 696AB533-D64E-4992-AC27-2BA84CEC8664.jpegwith my favourite morning beverage,a McCafe coffee ☕?.09B21D97-D32E-4748-8765-7F8663D74309.jpeg to see how the Thames River was flowing with all of this torrential rain, and of course, the thames River was starting to rise steadily. On a good note, there should be plenty of steelheads in our great lakes rivermouth’s,and also some walleye’s,05FCE195-C467-4998-A474-9E5885B86DDF.jpeg in the detroit,st.clair, thames and grand river, etc.,once the river becomes safe to fish again, after the flooding has gone. In the meantime,I will wait and read a good magazine,E2F7C66C-E876-40FC-96FD-BFB082142E84.jpeg (lol-?;)?),that I picked up today. Hopefully, the weather/fishing conditions will improve real soon,& be safe & tight lines to All!!????

Sadly I think the 2020 ice season will never happen for the LPB area. It has been too long, I got to shoot over to your place for some Coors light beers (MY favorite "morning beverage") soon Erich! I took a drive to Angling Outfitters today to stock up on some panfishing supplies for catching some freshwater piranha. Hopefully next weekend will be more pleasant to get out to fish Rowan harbour and the LPB channels for some panfish. Fingers crossed mini me and I will get into some channel slabs next weekend ??? Its crazy that this time last year we were ice fishing the bay of empty on 12+ inches of ice!

I was out running around for most of the day completing errands. The high temp my car displayed today was 54* F or 12.2* C.

Nutz for the current date.

I'm confused----on one hand we refer to the season as "OLD MAN WINTER", then we turn around and say "MOTHER NATURE" cant make up HER MIND, I tend to believe its the latter(that's #2 in case you weren't keeping score) and she must be BLONDE as well

@Extra Virgin I am not counting out the month of February into March yet for a no ice fishing season on long point bay,or it will be a trip north somewhere for me,such as lake simcoe,(if it safely freezes),or if not,it will be even further north for ice fishing!! ( lake nipissing??).;) That’s amazing though, that there was 12 inches of ice on the “bay of empty” where we fished together last year, and what is going on with our winter this year?? I stayed clear of the ice fishing tackle section at Angling Outfitters when I was there a few day’s ago,for I need to do some inventory of my own ice fishing tackle first, but like always,it was great to see @bosco 60D25DA4-F352-429D-AFE8-D3E00906283C.jpeg there and others,to talk about fishing, etc. By the way, there are NO!! Coors Light beers left in my fridge @Extra Virgin lol ??? and I take my McCafe ☕️ coffee black!! 15F8F9DA-5A34-4D63-B50D-5BAF9864B4C9.jpeg See you soon & CHEERS!! ? ? ??

The winter is still young @Bay_Fishing and I am being optimistic that there still will be a ice fishing season on long point bay,(but perhaps a short season). Here’s hoping that we all will be ice fishing,(safe ice of course),for I and likely others, are looking forward for a dinner of perch, and there is no way that I am going to pay $24.99/lb.:oops:CE2F6FEF-6FC0-43E0-BF74-7E6871E2EAF8.jpeg for perch that I saw recently at a grocery store!! Interesting pic's Red Herring. Next lake shore drive could you get a few pic's down the hill at St. Williams of the lake with the two ice fishing hut rental offices in the pic. I wanted them to add to my pic collection. As an amateur photo buff I appreciate your pictures. Thanks and take care, Huron.

Sounds good @Huron ??;) and it’s great to hear from you again, and I know that over the past few years you wanted members such as myself on @stomp website to post picture’s of ice hut’s,and I will send you a picture of the 2 ice rental huts and the lake at St.Williams the next time, whenever I drive down to the Port Rowan area from London again. Bye for now,and I am still being optimistic that there will be a ice fishing season,(photo’s from last year on long point bay),39DE0B2B-B90D-4FE6-AF62-37AF1B03955B.jpeg CFD77B5E-4013-4540-96FE-57A71129E930.jpeg 32AF987D-B449-472F-952C-F2965F42AFB2.jpeg I also hope that the perch will be bigger, lol :ROFLMAO: this year!! But,if there is a “SAFE” ice fishing season,it won’t likely happen until sometime in February,2020.?? Take care, regards, @Red Hering ??
