Remembering the 80s

Was a great time to be able to fish for sure Robert. I too was lucky enough to have an understanding wife that allowed me every minute to fish and hunt. 43 years now. Wow how time goes.
Hey tell me about it John... Theresa and I are coming up on our 54th anniversary. o_O

Thanks & Yes,I will share some of my photo’s sometime tomorrow from lake huron from the 80’s. ;)?:)
@Toad here is a photo of my folding boat called a “instaboat” I also had a 1.2 Sears game fisher outboard motor for it. The instaboat is right behind me while I am holding 3 “drop back” rainbows that were caught between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. near the Maitland Rivermouth on a alligator lure. This lure was heavier than a Cleo is today, excellent for casting great distance and it was all silver with a red stripe running down its one side with a noticeable bend in the lure to give it a terrific wobble.I still have this lure today.By the way Toad,it was nice chatting with you by pm this morning, and we definitely need to get together because of our long relationship since the early 80’s!! I will post some more Lake Huron photo’s later from the 80’s. @Extra Virgin is on his way to my house with the 6-8 decal’s!! o_O?Bye for now.?

I remember double limit days running to the point and back for two trips in a day. Part of the LurePilot downrigger fishing team we often took friends and family for half day trips. Will have to look for some photos. We took a Simcoe Reformer reporter out on a trip who published an article on the great coho fishing. Lures of choice back then were green on green (dogger and flies), black on silver, and manistee's as cheaters. Good times. Fish-on and four in the box before sun up! lol.

The US quit stocking coho into Erie years ago because they weren't getting the return they wanted.

For me mick my most memorable trip was of

for me mick my most memorable trip on Erie was off the old ramp on the beach side in rondeau park. We caught over 40 coho in one day. Was by far the most amazing fishing I have ever seen. Was not the best place to launch though. I’m sure others will remember it as well
My wife and I used to camp at Rondeau Provincial Park back in the 80’s when the boat ramp was there going into Lake Erie.It sure was handy, and it saved us a lot of time not having to go around from Rondeau Bay to get onto Lake Erie.

Yah the 80s great time for Erie fishing bonanza. I have more coho photos somewhere but it's finding them in the thousands of 35 mm photos I have in boxes. Remember what 24 walleye limits in the 80s looked like when a 7 lber was considered a little guy? Yikes! Myself I prefer these 2-4 lbers we have now for eating any day. ;):)

wow 39 years ago seems like yesterday

Thanks @Toad ??? I know that some of the salmon look dark in some of the photo’s,but they still put on a nice fight especially catching them in the Goderich Harbour from shore sometimes instead of out of my boat.

Nice John the fishing was unbelievable wasn't it? Amazing there's 25 bows there if I counted right. I touched up your photo the best I could so it can be a little more appreciated for what it is. :)

@Toad... Hey John I thought you might like these 35mm photos I took of Jackie I think sometime in the 90s with a 32 lb. Lake Ontario king. We fished the Big 'O' a lot during the 80s and 90s on my father-in-law's boat.
