ya the numbers out here central just don't add up like it use to be..
but there should be some decent erie steelhead next month..

Any specific spot’s,(port’s),@mick in the central basin, without giving out your favourite rainbow 🌈 🐟 spot’s of course, but only if you want to,of course. The @Red Hering is not about to put his boat away yet for hibernation like some angler’s are talking about doing on @stomp (not till November of each year),for me. Thanks 🙏 in advance & tight lines!! 🚤🎣🐟👍🙂

Just to clarify I was refering to the extended fall steelhead season when the cool rains of october come..

Hey @Red Hering my last efforts for erie chasing steelhead was running off Erieau with my wilker Labour day weekend way off shore..out in 75 fow..1 two man limit. and it was alot of fuel.. I had GPS #s that morning on an uptodate location but fortunately I went out with 2 big Erieau boats.. it was almost like an escort on calm waters and into the fog..ya it was something.. when I come up on a dozen or so boats fishing and there catching bows...they were stacked right on bottom and it was game on..good size as well..we finished up easy..and then the long trip back and cleaned our fish at the ramp

I am sure the big erieau boats go out there offshore for bows thru thanksgiving..anything is possible..I call that marina a few times A season and usually get an answer..
and it was stated earlier on Erieau reports in august the bows are always on the move..Wheatley had weeks of good fishing..but that dried up towards week 3 .

I don't have a favourite steelhead spot any more Red..the last best steelhead fishing for us was on the Maitland the season after the goderich tornado hit..what a season..mystery where all those bows come from..

my old steelhead buddy invited me out on his new boat this season..he refreshed my memory the time down at wheatley of the 18 bows we shared and landed on my rod with just one same SS MJ glow spoon..I remember.. and his rod caught one sheep..lol..yep off 2 riggers on my little lund..
he invited me on his boat twice this season.. stanley was good 19 pics 2 bows...wheatley it was decent got 8 bows kept 5 and kept 4 nice pics..before 10..nothing great..but humble..

sorry I cant help more..I know you don't fish LSC...there fishing there..tmi

Thanks @mick for clarifying and giving me some great tip’s and information as well. 👊👊🙂 I love late season river steelhead fishing as well, and I have been doing it for many year’s,mostly on some lake huron river’s. I hope to get out on lake erie for walleye’s and rainbow’s as well a couple more times, before my boat is put away, which is usually in early November most year’s. Tight lines to the rest of your season’s, @mick 🚤🎣🐟👍🙂

well @Red Hering my trolling season is done for this season...I started May 6 and finished up Aug 26...I cleaned up my boat fishing gear and put it all away yesterday...I bought supplies last season to winterize my outboards for 2 seasons..but I forgot to buy fuel filters...honda brand..omg..so now I am calling hully gully tomorrow ..I want to get that done and over with..but now I might have to order them and I want 2.. I also need to look at ordering wheel bearing kits for the trailer...I got a buddy to do that job..
I hope the winds lay down for you guys getting out on erie..
Good Luck @Red Hering and eveybody else..

Would you mind posting the recipe?
It looks fantastic!
Ya no problem fuse. I use a dry brine four part brown sugar one part pickling salt one table spoon of garlic powder. Mix it well coat fish well put in refrigerator for 12 hrs. It will draw most of the water out of the fish. Remove from liquid and rinse good getting all the salt and sugar off. Put on a rack to dry until sticky then into your smoker at 185 until ready. About one hour before ready brush with maple syrup should take about 4 hours in the smoker. Good luck post your results

@Toad - your recipe sparked me to look up dry brine vs. dry rub. I use dry rub a lot but never dry brine and it looks as if it's a popular thing to dry brine turkey with salt. Your brown sugar/salt/garlic combo sounds good. Have you tried this on anything else than fish?
